January 2024 – New Partnership – National Association of Head Teachers (NAHT)

NAHT announce new partnership with Education Mutual as their staff absence protection provider

“As part of our commitment to providing the best service to our members, we continually review our partnerships to ensure we’re delivering the highest standards possible. After careful consideration and evaluation, we are excited to announce the new provider of NAHT Wellness and Protect is Education Mutual.

As a member-owned DFE-recommended provider, Education Mutual is run solely for the benefit of its members rather than shareholders. The board of Education Mutual consists of education leaders and, like our members, wants the best for their budget. Unlike commercial insurers, Education Mutual has low running costs and re-invests all surplus funds into schools, not shareholders’ pockets. To date, Education Mutual has re-invested more than £1million back into the education sector.

All NAHT Wellness and Protect schools will benefit from a wide range of comprehensive health and well-being services run in conjunction with our staff absence protection to support our members’ school staff and help reduce and prevent absences.” Mark Cornell – Assistant General Secretary – Membership & Operations, NAHT

“As the UK’s largest member-owned provider of staff absence protection, we are delighted to be working with NAHT to deliver their Wellness and Protect staff absence protection. As a not-for-profit organisation with an unwavering commitment to the education sector, we are excited to provide a tailored membership option to meet the needs of their members. With a shared dedication to the wellbeing of educators, this alliance reinforces our mission to create a positive and thriving work environment within the education sector.” – Nick Hurn – Chairman, Education Mutual

SBM Wellbeing Index

School Business Leaders play an essential – but often unnoticed – role in the smooth running of schools. It benefits everyone to ensure they are mentally and emotionally healthy enough to take on this demanding, but important, role.

We have undertaken research with SBLs across England and Wales, in partnership with Education Support, to understand what aspects of their jobs affect their mental health and well-being, and how they can be supported in schools.

The findings of the research will be shared via a webinar launch on the 14th of March at 2 pm, with Louise Levy, Director of Education Mutual, and Sinead McBrearty, CEO of Education Support, sharing their insights into supporting the SBL community as a result of the findings. Sign up for the webinar here.

Please share information about the webinar launch via your own channels and networks to further support your School Business Managers.
